Wulfenite var. Chillagite (extremely rare)

Item Description

This is a rare specimen of the wulfenite variety once referred to as "chillagite," distinguished by its unusual phantom zoned coloration from minute molybdenum inclusions. Such specimens have only been found twice in history and remain extremely rare, particularly in high-quality crystals from this famous old mine. This piece is gemmy, with mostly good edges (although some chatter on close inspection) and well-defined inclusions, making it a true treasure from Tsumeb. Unusually large for chillagite, one edge of the largest crystal shows contact with the matrix, but the vibrant blue zones remain remarkable. This is an important and valuable specimen from Tsumeb.
