Item Description

Good display quality specimens from Tsumeb are always in demand, and Wulfenites are certainly among the top most desirable species for collectors. This piece is a different style that you're used to seeing for the species or the locality featuring sharp, highly lustrous, translucent, soft yellow colored crystals with tiny "balls" of green Malachite free of matrix. The most interesting and distinctive aspect of the crystals is that they featuring a rarely seen skeletal / "hoppered? habit with distinct striations and an almost "herringbone"-esque growth pattern on the back. This is one of those piece that you MUST see in person, as it's very three-dimensional and relies on reflections in the light to illustrate its various features. I can't recall seeing another Wulfenite quite like this, and it's certainly the kind of specimen that would make a unique fit into a Wulfenite collection or a suite of Tsumeb Minerals. Priced in the inventory at $1,400. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds who passed in August of 2020. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
