Item Description
This extinct Arizona small underground Pb-Zn-Ag-Cu-Au-Mo-Mn-Gemstone mine, only about 100 yards (95 meters) Southeast (MINDAT) of the much more famous and prolific Defiance Mine, produced far fewer specimens. Very glassy and lustrous, transparent to translucent, butterscotch-yellow wulfenite windowpanes with phantoms, to 1.2 cm, are festooned jackstraw-style on the gossan matrix. All of the interior crystals appear to be pristine. Discovered 1890, the mine produced intermittently from 1893-1978. This piece probably came from an early 1990s collecting effort. A choice and rich example of the species and more obscure locale from the Gary Weaver Collection. Valued at $400.
