Wulfenite (thick crystals) (ex Bob Reynolds Collection)

A classic and now fairly hard to find display quality specimen of Wulfenite from the famous 79 Mine. Typically the Wulfenite crystals from this locality are rather thin, but this piece features some of the THICKEST blades I've seen from the locale. Many sharp, lustrous, well-formed, beautiful orange colored tabular crystals measuring up to 1.3 cm on edge sit on contrasting oxidized matrix. As you rotate the piece in your hand, you can see the quality ranges from "wafer"-thin WATER clear crystals of a yellow-orange hue to the thicker blades that actually have a rarely seen red colored "core". Some crystals are contacted, but for the most part, the piece is in good shape. A must have for any fan of Wulfenite, Arizona minerals or specifically specimens from the 79 Mine. You don't see many of these on the market anymore, and you would be hard pressed to find another with such beefy crystals like this. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds with a label from Mark and Jeanette Rogers. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
