Item Description

The Jianshan Mine in China has produced the finest Wulfenite crystals from any locality in the entire country. In addition to the excellent quality, a small percentage of these Wulfenites feature some of the best RED colors you'll see for the species. Typically Wulfenite is yellow or orange, and even the famed Red Cloud Wulfenites from Arizona have an orange tone to them, but this piece is about as red as you'll find, comparable to the rich red hues seen in the old Persian Wulfenites from the 1970s. This piece is loaded with superb, sharp, lustrous, well-formed, tabular blades of Wulfenite measuring up to 8 mm with a very attractive red hue covering the entire surface of the underlying oxidized matrix. Nearly all of the crystals are undamaged, and they look beautiful up close and across the room. A must-have Wulfenite specimen for any fan of the species, lead minerals, secondary ore minerals, or specimens from China. Priced at $2,500 in the inventory. From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#95 C), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel. We at The Arkenstone have the privilege of offering the remainder of this great worldwide collection over the next two to three years through our various platforms.
