Wulfenite (superb old classic) ex Halpern

Crystals of juicy orange wulfenite to 1.3 cm abound on top of this nice-sized matrix, making it a really dramatic display piece of classic old wulfenite from Mexico. These were found only in the 1960s and 1970s-era and most of them had too much of a brown color component to them, whereas this is about as pure orange as it gets. These look like nothing so much as orange-amber caramels. You can see they have amazing waxy luster, as well! So we have shape, isolation, color, and luster here - all the best qualities in one superb small cabinet piece. We are honored to present another lot of deaccessions to auction from the collection of Jack Halpern of San Francisco, as featured in the Mineralogical Record, March 2005. Jack purchased this from the legendary dealer, and his good friend, Walt Lidstrom in the 1970s. Walt's label notes that it came from the famous Los Angeles collector, radio producer and director Arch Oboler (1907-1987) who was known for his exceptional taste in minerals.
