Wulfenite (rough and cut set)

This is a really fun and unusual rough and cut set of Wulfenite from Los Lamentos Mexico! The specimen consists of about two dozen,, super lustrous, blocky to tabular, butterscotch-orange Wulfenite crystals from 0.8 to 1.5 cm across in a very aerial cluster. They are nicely distributed on a small piece of sugary, snow-white Calcite. The Wulfenite are distinctly the "sandwich" style with translucent, brown-orange centers and butterscotch-orange tops and bottoms. It's an impressive, undamaged miniature from Los Lamentos Mexico, one of the classic localities for Wulfenite. In addition to the great Wulfenite miniature is a very nice, 1.32 carat, elongate, art- cut, fiery orange, Wulfenite gemstone that is largely transparent. This is quite the attractive duo for a rough and cut set! The rough for such a gem would have come out of a few pockets in the 1960s and 1970s, and is not contemporary. This is from the rough and cut collection of the infamous Hoppel collection, most of which went up for auction a decade ago. Valued $2000 as a set
