Item Description
A rarely seen and fine quality matrix display specimen of Wulfenite from the Apex Mine at San Carlos, Chihuahua, Mexico. This piece hosts a pair of fine, sharp, gemmy, rich orange colored, tabular crystals of Wulfenite measuring up to 7 mm sitting in a vug of white rhombic Calcite on host rock matrix. The Wulfenite crystals are good quality, but have minor imperfections that keep them from being 100% damage free. The color is fantastic for the species and the locality. If you collect worldwide Wulfenites, minerals of Mexico or if you're a fan of secondary ore minerals, don't pass this one up, as you may not see another one for a quite a while. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds (#RR0897) who passed in August of 2020. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
