Wulfenite on Mimetite (older material)

This is an older specimen of this wonderful combination from the Ojuela Mine, circa 1960s-1970s era of mining. Unlike the more contemporary pieces that produced thicker pyramidal Wulfenite crystals, this piece features very thin tabular blades, with a pale golden-yellow hue measuring up to 7 mm, sitting on botryoidal pastel olive-green Mimetite, with individual "balls" measuring up to 4 mm, sitting on oxidized matrix. Very good condition all over, no major damage that I can see. This style is rarely seen for sale on the market, and it's certainly a very worthwhile example for any fans of secondary ore minerals, or specimens from this prestigious Mexican mine. From the collection of Richard ("Dick") Philip Hauck formerly of Bloomfield, New Jersey and now a resident of Franklin, New Jersey. Dick is an avid collector of minerals, books, and mining memorabilia, along with being an accomplished author in the mineral world. Arguably, his greatest claim to fame is being the co-founder of the Sterling Hill Mining Museum in Ogdensburg, NJ. Dick purchased the land on which the Sterling Hill Mine resides in 1988, and the museum has been running strong since.
