Wulfenite on Copper

Item Description

A sharp isolated wulfenite crystal, measuring 1.3 cm along the edge, perched attractively over a malachite-covered spongy copper matrix. The crystal is complete all around; you can see how its form was modified as it grew around a projection of the matrix, to ensconce the matrix and grow around it. It has a few small contacts and a very, very trivial bit of edge wear but nothing to distract. It has a fine luster and gemminess, and an amber to butterscotch color. You can see some smaller wulfenites elsewhere on the matrix and on the back. An Tsumeb classic combination piece. Valued at $400-500.
