Wulfenite on Calcite (fine classic material)

A beautiful display specimen of the classic old time Wulfenites from Los Lamentos. Typically, the crystals from this mine will be a bit thicker in habit than most Wulfenites from other world localities. This piece not only features gorgeous, thick, fine quality, beautiful butterscotch-orange colored tabular crystals, but they are sitting on and alluring white semi-spherical mounds of Calcite. The contrast of the wonderful orange Wulfenites against the Calcite is uncommon to find from this locality. The piece is incredibly showy and eye-catching, so it stands out as being simply more attractive than most Wulfenites that we've had to offer from this locality in a while. The underlying matrix is brown Limonite, but you can't see it unless you turn the piece over, so all you see is the attractive Wulfenite and Calcite combination on the top / display side. Despite the fairly thick nature of the Wulfenite crystals, they are still fairly gemmy in areas when backlit, and when you look at the crystals on their sides, you can see they have a "banded" or almost "sandwich" like layered form. The large Wulfenite measures up to 6 mm on edge and most of them are undamaged, though I can see some tiny contacts on the secondary crystals. I love the slick vitreous luster on the crystals, which gives them character and a beautiful reflective sheen.
