The Wulfenite crystals from the famed Erupción Mine in the Los Lamentos Mountains in the norther part of the Mexican state of Chihuahua are some the thickest examples of the species you'll find from any world locality. The beautiful rich orange color seen in these crystals adds to their allure, and they are unquestionably some of the most well-known minerals from any Mexican locale. This small cabinet sized piece features a few sharp, blocky, lustrous, crystal of Wulfenite with a rich orange color, measuring up to 1.0 cm, sitting on beautifully contrasting white Calcite. No major damage, only a few tiny imperfections. Valued at $950. A showy and fine quality example of these well-known specimens. From the collection of Richard ("Dick") Philip Hauck formerly of Bloomfield, New Jersey and now a resident of Franklin, New Jersey. Dick is an avid collector of minerals, books, and mining memorabilia, along with being an accomplished author in the mineral world. Arguably, his greatest claim to fame is being the co-founder of the Sterling Hill Mining Museum in Ogdensburg, NJ. Dick purchased the land on which the Sterling Hill Mine resides in 1988, and the museum has been running strong since.
