Beautiful, intensely-colored Wulfenite crystals to 1.1 cm on edge make this specimen a visually impressive piece. The caramel color and high luster really make these crystals stand out, and setting them on a white, sparkly matrix creates such a pleasing aesthetic. This tabular, sometimes 'sandwich' habit is classic for the well-known Los Lamentos mines, and the interlocking crystals, up to 1.8 cm across, add a stunning look built upon this habit. The best Wulfenite stopes in the mine are under water, assuring that fine specimens like this are rare, indeed. Note the low collection number, 21000 or so, dating it to the 1970s or before.
