Wulfenite on Calcite

A wonderful association specimen from this most classic of localities. Fine Tsumeb Wulfenites don't get enough attention in my mind, as they get somewhat lost in the shuffle amongst so many minerals from this famous mine. The best pieces feature fine quality crystals with excellent color, often in fine display quality specimens. This piece is filled with superb, very sharp, highly lustrous, rich yellow colored tabular blades measuring up to 1.0 cm on edge, sitting on stark contrasting white Calcite matrix. There is a slight golden-brown hue that can be seen on the outer edges of some crystals, for a nice additional hint of color. Most of the Wulfenites are completely pristine, but there are a few broken crystals, so the piece is not completely pristine. A wonderful example of these classic Wulfenites. From the collection of Jason Adams, and formerly part of the collection of E. J. Immelman along with Shields Flynn. Previous dealer labels have the piece valued between $2,500 and $2,800 (2250 GBP) retail, and I could easily see it valued at $3,000 or more in today's market.
