Wulfenite on Baryte is a rare and attractive combination for Mibladen, whose mines are more famous for the wide range of vanadinite specimens produced there over the years. This cluster of highly lustrous, bright-orange Wulfenite crystals is 2.3 cm across, and it sits on a matrix of knife-edged, bladed Barytes, a habit that is quintessential for Mibladen. The glassy Wulfenites are gemmy to translucent, and their platy habit and distribution gives the impression that the cluster is akin to a classic mineral rosette. Even with the bit of typical edgewear along the top left, the aesthetic of this cluster is so good that you hardly notice. Sitting perfectly in the middle of the Baryte matrix like a flower, the beauty and balance of this piece simply wins the day. Valued $1000-plus. This is one of the nicer of these combinations that I have seen from here. Old material! This is probably from the early 1980s.
