Item Description
Vivid, rich reddish-orange wulfenite crystals dramatically line the sturdy gossan matrix on this excellent older specimen from the famous Red Cloud Mine. Most of the stout prisms are translucent and have an unusual frosted/melted look, while a couple of adjacent crystals are very gemmy and show classic flashes of yellow-orange fire. The interior wulfies are in great shape, being essentially pristine. A bit of periphery wear is noted to some of the edge crystals. This is probably older and uncommon material in this style from the 1960s or 70s. Ex Harold Urish Collection and valued at $1500. Such specimens with so much coverage of robust crystals are hard to come by, and the similar sized exmaples from the 1990s mining are gemmier, but cost in the tens of thousands for pieces of this size. This is a bargain, because it was an old piece we could clean and trim up.
