Item Description
Lustrous, translucent, butterscotch-colored wulfenite prisms, to 1.8 cm, are artistically festooned on three sides of the large, vuggy sculptural matrix on this fine and rich old-timer. The historic and extinct Pb-Zn mines at Bleiberg are the Type Locality for wulfenite. The last mine closed in the late 1980s (MINDAT). In great shape overall, with only a few broken crystals considering the age and crystal density. This excellent old-timer has many display possibilities. From an East Coast collection. Previously in the Joseph D'Agostino Collection,1904-1988, a well-known East Coast collector and in the John "Lord" Calvert Collection, 1825-1897. Valued at $1000-1250.
