Impressive opposing tabular wulfenite crystals atop highlight this classic, older, rich and aesthetic small cabinet triangular plate covered with classic "sandwich" style crystals from the renowned Erupcion Mine at Los Lamentos. The richly colored zoned prisms, to 2.0 cm, are translucent to opaque, adding character. It is starkly geometric, and this is a style known for its shape rather than its color - but unique to this day. The striking pair atop look like pages of an open book or wings of a bird or butterfly. Read about the famed locale in the 2003 Mineralogical Record article in Vol. 34, No. 6. Ex Bill Panczner Collection , of which Mexico was the primary specialty. . Bill was the first Curator of Earth Science at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum in 1974 and the author of the 1987 book Minerals of Mexico. It is the most thorough summary of the subject.
