Item Description
A classic, rare and desirable thumbnail wulfenite crystal from the famous Mammoth Mine at Tiger. The very glassy, gemmy, rich yellow-orange windowpane is enhanced with bright lustre and beveled edges. If truly from the Mammoth Mine, this is an important OLD-TIMER. The Mammoth Mine closed in 1912. It later became the Mammoth-St Anthony mine and incorporated the Collins mine/vein (MINDAT). The mine closed in 1953. See the 1980 Mineralogical Record article in the Arizona-I Special Issue, Vol. 11, No. 3. Ex Irv Brown Thumbnail Collection. Irv is a prominent California collector who won the Desautels Trophy for the "Best Case in the Show" and the Lidstrom Trophy for the best single specimen at the 2019 Tucson Show. This is a large and significant wulfenite crystal for Tiger.
