Wulfenite (huge crystal!)

This turned up at the Tucson 2006 show in an old collection, and has since been with San Diego collector John Attard. It is a shocking thing, a wulfenite that weighs in pounds and kilos! It is a 1.8 kilo single crystal, complete all around with only relatively minor edge wear (mostly on back edges) despite its size, age, and weight. It is from M'Fouti, Congo, circa 1960s (so I am told by Charlie Key, who confirmed its locality of origin and pronounced it a "monster" when I showed it to him back in 2006 at the Tucson Show!). It was, at the time, believed to be the world's largest fully crystalline example of the species. John Attard has further confirmed/determined that it was wulfenite by his own analysis with XRD, when we were in doubt! Crystals like this are simply shocking - things we do not normally think should exist.
