Item Description
Lustrous, burnt-orange, wulfenite windowpanes with striking flashes of golden-yellow gemmines are festooned on the sculptural undulating matrix on this very rich, colorful and imposing specimen. The blades reach 1.4 cm and for all of the crystal density, there are very few broken blades so it is in amazing condition. MOST speicmens from here were of another habit, with large crystals of less luster. Today the site is closed off to mining and is actually in a region of restless western China under military control (the area where the Uighurs live), so mining on the site is strictly controlled - particularly when it involves dynamite and machinery. This is a rare, rich, large and exceptional example of this style of lustrous wulfies from this Chinese mine from a limited find in 2006-2007. Valued at $2500 AT LEAST. We have not had this quality in some time, and this is a strggler from a batch I bought in 2007, then had cleaned, and lost track of til now.
