Item Description

Most crystals of Wulfenite you will see on the market are thin tabular blades, but there area few places in the world that produce remarkably robust, thick, blocky examples of the species! The now classic material from the world-famous Ojuela Mine are a great example of this material. This wonderful small cabinet sized specimen features excellent, very sharp, rather lustrous, prismatic yellow-orange Wulfenite crystals measuring up to 1.6 cm long which are sitting atop oxidized gossan matrix. Nearly every crystal is pristine, many of them are doubly-terminated and when they're backlit, you can see a bit gemminess / translucency inside! I love the pseudo-cubic habit of the crystals combined with the way the are beautifully covering the display side of the piece, like cascading tumbling dice. You won't find many of these on the market anymore, and if you're a collector of Wulfenite or Mexican minerals, these are some of the best examples of the "blocky" style of the species ever found. The piece was previously priced by the former dealer at $3,000, but I honestly would put that value higher today (i.e., $4,000) as it's such a prime example of this fantastic material.
