Item Description

A 2.5 cm, stout, compound wulfenite crystal with rich reddish-orange color, luster and translucence is dramatically perched atop gossan matrix on this excellent and aesthetic miniature. It is a rare style for its robust habit and color, clearly from some small 1960s or 70s finds at this renowned locale. The crystal has classic sharp chisel terminations. A small bit of brusing along the termination is noted, but certainly is a modest detraction to this very showy and desirable piece - without which this would be valued $5000 or more, but it should still be worth $1000-2000 easily. It glows in a case, and has a unique robustness that the more modern finds from 1997 and 2003 simply do not have. Comes with an older Yuma County label (La Paz County was created in 1983). It displays well without aid. This is a superb miniature for most collections.
