Item Description

This is a pretty good Wulfenite thumbnail from this historic locality. It features a beautiful bright orange color compressed, thick, tabular crystal of Wulfenite measuring 1.1 cm aesthetically sitting on matrix. It only has a bit of roughness on the edge, but it's complete all the way around, and shows great color when strongly backlit. Classic old material from Mexico, and now hard to find. This specimen comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ). The piece comes mounted in a "Perky" box from Wulff. A wonderfully historic and eye-catching specimen of this well known old time material.
