This is a competitive-level miniature of one of the most classic of old mineral discoveries in Mexico, the so-called "caramels" of blocky pseudocubic wulfenite crystals. Set against sparkling microcrystalline quartz and barite matrix, this is a stunning full sized miniature of competitive level, with sharp crystals to 1.5 cm across the face and unbelievably juicy orange color. Despite the softness of the species, this specimen is almost pristine and displays well, with just a small touch on the back tip of an upper crystal, and one missing corner on a secondary crystal as I display it horizontally. These also have the highest luster of the style, that you could ask for, naturally wet-looking with no oil or chemical treatment at the laboratory to try to enhance. In fact, this still bears some of the original pocket clay, and it dates back to the heyday here of the 1960s or prior, we would assume. From the worldwide miniatures collection of Richard Hauck.
