Item Description
A wonderful small cabinet specimen from the world-famous Red Cloud Mine featuring a pair of strong orange-red color, sharp, lustrous, gemmy tabular crystals of Wulfenite measuring up to 1.5 cm sitting on oxidized matrix. Very good quality all around, and quite showy. A slight amount of roughness can be seen on one corner of the Wulfenites. The crystals are certainly good sized for the locality, along with their above average transparency. There are hundreds if not thousands of localities for Wulfenite in the world, but the pieces from the Red Cloud Mine are regarded as some of the finest in the world. A fine display quality specimen from this historic locality. From the collection of Colorado mining legend, Dave Bergman. Dave is now retired, but among other things, he was the foreman and primary person in charge of recovering specimens at the famous Sweet Home Mine near Alma, Colorado during the late 1970s. He is also the maternal grandfather of Brian Kosnar. See Dave's photo mining at the Sweet Home on page 58 of Peter Bancroft's book "Gem and Crystal Treasures".
