Wulfenite cluster (circa 1970s)

Tsumeb is not known for wulfenite for a good reason - most of it is somewhat ugly or dull or off colored. But, a few pockets over the last 100 years stood out - this "fire orange" style among them. thought to have come out in the 1970s, this style of lustrous, brilliant, vibrant orange wulfenite is one of the most desirable styles of wulfenite from ANY mine. It was acquired by Dr. Pohl in the midpoint of her collection, by the early 1980s, and has remained there with her treasured suite of Tsumeb miniatures! The crystals reach 2 cm in size. When backlit, they glow all the more (a rich and saturated butterscotch color). The photos speak for themselves! This is an important miniature, valued $5000 and up. It is actually a floater, in pristine condition except maybe for the tiniest of dings - complete all around. Dr. Pohl purchased this and a small cabinet from the same pocket, #58728, also at auction here. She had first choice of so many minerals from this location, throughout the 60s and 70s into the 1980s, from her European dealer sources and from others in Africa. This is one of the cherry picked favorites in the extensive miniatures collection.
