Wulfenite (classic material)

While Wulfenite is very popular species among collectors, a good number of the Wulfenite crystals you'll find in nature form in fairly thin tabular (and often brittle) examples. The complete opposite is true of the iconic specimens from the Erupción Mine (Ahumada Mine) in Mexico, which are some of the thickest and most durable Wulfenites in the world. In addition, these historic specimens are some of the most easily recognizable pieces of specimens of Wulfenite from any locality. This piece features a few gorgeous, fairly thick, fine quality, lustrous, rich orange (with brownish coloring in areas) colored crystals measuring up to 1.3 cm, sitting on iron-coated Calcite matrix. When you look at the crystals on their sides, you can see they have a "banded" or almost "sandwich" like layered form. No major damage, and the saturated color and vitreous luster are really fine for the material, which gives the Wulfenites character and a beautiful reflective sheen, which really brings out the deep color of the crystals.
