Wulfenite (classic material)

Item Description

Wulfenite is a well-known and widespread species, beloved by collectors. A large amount of Wulfenite crystals typically are found in thin tabular (and often brittle) examples, but the famous specimens from Los Lamentos are some of the thickest and most durable Wulfenites in the world. What's more, these classic specimens are some of the most recognizable examples of Wulfenite from any locality. This piece features a few gorgeous, thick, fine quality, beautiful saturated orange colored crystals measuring up to 1.1 cm, sitting on silvery Calcite (white underneath) on matrix. There is some damage to two of the crystals, but the other two are in very good shape. Still an incredibly showy and eye-catching piece of this well-known material. I love the slick vitreous lusters on the crystals, which gives them character and a beautiful reflective sheen.

Dave is now retired, but among other things, he was the foreman and primary person in charge of recovering specimens at the famous Sweet Home Mine near Alma, Colorado during the late 1970s.
