Item Description

When people think of crystals of Wulfenite, they typically imagine very thin, platy tabular crystals, but the Wulfenites from the Erupción Mine in the Los Lamentos Mountains of Mexico are some the thickest examples of the species you'll find from any world locality. Combine their attractive form with their beautiful rich orange color, and they are unquestionably some of the most well-known specimens from any Mexican locale. This small cabinet sized piece features several sharp, blocky, lustrous, prismatic (pyramidal) crystals of Wulfenite measuring up to 1.6 cm, with colors ranging from a vibrant orange to more of a reddish-brown. The crystals are sitting on classic white Calcite on host rock matrix. I can't find any real damage with the naked eye. A showy and fine quality example of these well-known specimens. If you collect Wulfenites, Mexican minerals or secondary ore minerals, don't pass this one up. It's an older specimen, dating back to the 1970s and comes with an old label from Walt Lidstrom. From the collection of Brian Kosnar.
