Item Description

A fantastic thumbnail specimen of Wulfenite from the famous Old Yuma Mine which lies just west of Tucson inside of Saguaro National Park. This locality is best known for its excellent Vanadinite specimens, which are some of the best you'll see outside of Morocco, but the Wulfenites are quite nice and don't get enough attention in my mind, as they have vivid fiery color, that's approaching the famed pieces from the Red Cloud Mine. This piece hosts fine, sharp, lustrous, bladed crystals with lovely bevels on the edges, showing a strong orange hue and a bit of gemminess/translucency, without matrix. I love the multi-layered form of the piece, it's not just a single blade, but a comprehensive group with depth and character. Very minor imperfections can be seen, but no major damage. It's a very impressive example of a mineral that is so closely associated with the state of Arizona (it was recently voted as the official state mineral), and a great chance to own a choice piece of this classic and now rather hard to find material.
