Item Description

Stephenson-Bennett Mine wulfenites are a New Mexico classic. This nifty small cabinet plate is covered with lustrous, translucent, rectangular, butterscotch-colored blades to 1.2 cm. The unusual aspect is that one side of many of the blades has a preferential coating of tiny secondary wulfies with iron oxide coatings, giving the blades a different looking appearance. Just a few bruised and broken blades are noted, but they are acceptable in the context of this piece. There are many more smaller wulfies on the back of this showy Stephenson-Bennett Mine wulfenite from the Chris Cowan Collection.
