Item Description

Stephenson-Bennett Mine wulfenites are a New Mexico classic. This nifty and unusual mounded miniature is covered with lustrous, translucent, spearpoint-shaped, butterscotch-colored blades to 1.8 cm. The unusual aspect is that one side of many of the blades has a preferential coating of either mottramite or iron oxides, giving the blades a color-zoned appearance. Bruised and broken blades are noted, but they are acceptable in the context of this piece. A showy and strange-looking 360-degree Stephenson-Bennett Mine wulfenite from the Chris Cowan Collection.
