Stunning small cabinet specimen of this rarest of nearly all historic American wulfenite locales....from an old silver and lead mine in the wilds of the Southwest at the time, worked circa late 1890s into the early 1900s. Word is, Indian bandits and silver thieves, combined with the super remote locality and distances to haul ore, lead to closure of an otherwise promising deposit. All of the great wulfenites came out in that era or in the 1920s-1930s, when Art Montgomery and Ed Over revisited the location. Any good specimen from here is certainly, from the 1930s or earlier. This is a ridiculously fine example in the size class with large crystals to nearly 3 cm.
