Item Description

Dolomite "crusts" from Tsumeb have always held a certain fascination for their unusual and very attractive nature of curved, lightweight plates that seem to have formed after another mineral that is now missing - interesting even without the wulfenites atop. The bladed, 1.2 cm Dolomites have an almost silvery shimmer, and their crystalline micro-structure is appears like a boxwork. Most unusual. Already interesting and distinctive, this small-cabinet is even more notable for being in combination with both Wulfenite and Mottramite. The lustrous, bladed Wulfenites are up to 7 mm on edge, and they have classic, beveled edges. As expected, a few of the Wulfenites show a bit of wear, as exposed and delicate as they are. Yet, overall, they present beautifully as they dance across the Dolomite. Adding even more to the fascinating mineralogy are the mm-size, spherical tufts of dark-green, acicular Mottramite. On first glance you would be sorely mistaken to overlook this fine small-cabinet piece, because with just a little bit of consideration you would appreciate how the contrasts in mineralogy, forms, and colors create such a unique, outstanding aesthetic. As they say, you really gotta 'see it' to fully appreciate it!
