Item Description
The San Francisco Mine is famous for its Wulfenite/Mimetite combination. The blades of Wulfenite, as is normal from here, are delicate orange-yellow window panes with beveled edges and superb luster. The largest here is about 1.1 cm on edge. The yellow Mimetites are classic and very attractive. Their habit is more like clusters of narrow coral polyps, though, rather than the singular mimetite balls normally seen. They are very numerous and tightly grown, so the Mimetite clusters provide a complimentary bed for the Wulfenites crystals. Only minimal damage. Quite aesthetic example from the 1970s finds here.
