Wulfenite and Cobalt-bearing Dolomite ps. Calcite

SUPERB example of a significant wulfenite for the locality: this classic and rare combination piece is from the famous Tsumeb Mine. Not often do you have a combination in which the different species share the spotlight equally in all respects, with each bringing its own uniqueness to the table in balance. The translucent Wulfenite, up to 1.8 cm on edge, is thick and stout and several grow in parallel as they stand on edge for display. The base for the Wulfenite is the 'reverse' side of the cast of a Dolomite pseudomorph (replacement) after Calcite. Flip it over, and you will find OUTSTANDING casts of Cobaltoan Dolomite after Calcite whose forms are sharp and the color a beautiful pink. There is even a significant, and amazing, second generation of ribbon-like Dolomite that simply elevates the aesthetics a bit with sparkle. This is a great Tsumeb classic, a combo not seen from anywhere else in the mineral world with such quality, color, and style. Valued $3500-4500. We happen to know the piece and remember it well....it was purchased in the early 2000s by us from the Sussman Tsumeb collection and #174 in a group of several hundred specimens sold to Star Van Scriver at the time, who sold it to Erika Pohl. The number remains on a piece of tape, even 20 years later.
