Item Description

These wulfenites caused quite a stir when they came to market a few years ago! Nobody had seen ANY good wulfenite from China to that time, and here came big specimens replate with beautiful crystals. They soon sold an ddisappeared from the market. However, most were of a red color. And most were fatter crystals, or skinny burnt-umber crystals. Recently, a few more pockets have trickled out of this extremely remote locale (which you may recognize from the news reports as scene of some of the recent riots by Uighurs against Chinese political control). Most specimens are not so impressive compared to the earlier finds, in crystal size, but the style is different - these are more orange, and sparkly. This piece has perhaps 100 transparent, windowpane-like crystals to 1 cm. There is some damage I have to note, but the overall effect, of so many crystals reflecting so many angles of light, is beautiful. The orange color is rich and appealing, and the overall shape of the matrix is 3-dimensional. This is one of the better examples of this new find, I have seen
