The Wulfenite discoveries in the mid 2000s from the now famous Jianshan Mine in Xinjiang China stunned the collecting world when they came out. Never before had Arizona-style Wulfenites, rich red-orange color with sharp bladed crystals, been seen by the West from China. In 2009, there was an additional short lived discovery reported in Xinjiang that also produced high quality specimens until 2013 - but not of this style. This is older material, and was rare even then. This intensely colored specimen is loaded with sharp, well formed, tabular crystals of a highly lustrous fiery red-orange color. The Wulfenite crystals, up to 2 cm, are of a robust 3-4 mm thickness with nice sized bevelled edges. The crystals are significantly more robust than a typical Wulfenite with nearly all of the crystals undamaged. The vibrant highly saturated color and gemminess of the blades is truly captivating. They are just a glowing flame of red-orange color when backlit. Good quality bladed Wulfenite specimens from China were difficult to find on the market to begin with, now with production having ceased for a while these are disappearing. With only a few trivial bruises or dings, this is what we would call nearly pristine and remarkable for the size and location.
