Woodwardite with Azurite (rare)

A stunning and colorful cascade of turquoise-blue and light greenish-blue "waves" of increasing in size Woodwardite is dramatically and richly peppered with royal-blue azurite microcrystals on this surreal and rare style specimen from recent finds in China. Woodwardite is rare hydrated Cu-Al sulfate secondary mineral found in the oxidized zone of copper deposits but quite rare as aesthetic specimens. The dark blue azurite really accents the waves. This is really visually fascinating material, looking more organic than mineral! The Type Locality and most prolific for the species is in Cornwall, England, with specimens also coming from Italy, Greece and Arizona. This is a SIGNIFICANT RARITY, as MINDAT does not list the species in China. It is a small new find from March of 2020. Totally unlike anything else: The optics on this piece are fabulous. Dramatic and colorful natural modern art, we have not seen more in several years now. Specimens like this were selling for $2000-2500 retail at the time they came out.The piece displays delightfully from both directions.
