Woodwardite "waves"

Gorgeous, sinuous, rolling waves of beautiful rich blue and light sky-blue woodwardite course across the dramatically sculptural and colorful small cabinet plate accented with a bit of matrix from recent finds at the Qinglong Mine. The interiors of some of the waves hosts rounded "pearls" of woodwardite which adds a striking visual aspect to the piece. Woodwardite is a rare and unusual copper species, a hydrated Cu-Al-sulfate secondary mineral found in the oxidized zone of copper deposits, but quite rare as aesthetic specimens. This is really visually fascinating material, looking more organic than mineral! The type locality and most prolific for the species is in Cornwall, England, with specimens also coming from Italy, Greece and Arizona. This is a SIGNIFICANT RARITY, from a strange locality which has given us many unusual minerals and combinations. It was a small new find from March of 2020 which we are selling off slowly. This fabulous piece has a surreal look to it. Totally unlike anything else.
