Woodhouseite (Type Locality) w/ Quartz

Item Description

Woodhouseite is a rare phosphate/sulfate and this is a showy, rich and excellent miniature from the famous Champion Mine, the Type Locality. Sharp, blocky, lustrous and translucent, tan pseudocubic rhombohedral woodhouseite crystals to 4 mm are richly and nicely strewn in vugs on both sides of the quartz-rich matrix. From an East Coast Collection and was formerly a donation by Art Montgomery, a very prominent US mineralogist, mineral collector and dealer, educator and philanthropist, who died in 1999.
