Item Description

This is a wonderful near large cabinet display specimen of the famous specimens of Woodhouseite from the type locality - the Champion Mine in California. The entire display side of the specimen is loaded with very sharp, well-formed, rather lustrous, soft golden-yellow colored striated trigonal crystals Woodhouseite with minor associated Quartz on matrix. The largest Woodhouseite measures about 6 mm which is good sized for the species, but it's the sheer NUMBER of crystals on this piece that makes all the difference, as it might be the single richest piece of Woodhouseite that I've ever had to offer in the auction. The quality is superb and you just don't see specimens like this anywhere! This rare phosphate is named after Charles Douglas (C. D.) Woodhouse (1888-1975), a well-known American mineralogist and mineral collector who worked at the University of California, Santa Barbara. We had this piece priced at $6,000 for rarity, impressive size and quality.
