Item Description

Wolframite and scheelite combination specimens are RARE from this noted mining district, home of the famous and extinct Homestake Gold Mine. Elongated wolframite prisms to about 7 mm cover the lower half and glassy/gemmy, yellow-green scheelite crystals cover the upper half of the vuggy, granular, hefty sulfide matrix. The scheelite fluoresces ghostly white. From an East Coast collection. The Foote label dates from 1910-16 (numbers match) and the Hugh Ford label from 1947-56. A MUST for the species or locality collector.
