Wolframite, Fluorite and Quartz (ex. Roberts)

Item Description

A significant combo specimen from the famous Yaogangxian Mine! This is old material from this mine, circa 2005 when Ken Roberts bought it in China, and has a high degree of what we would refer to as precision, to the shapes of the fluorites and the overall mix of species with such definition and shape. The fluorites and quartz, and the wolframite as well, are so sharp that they look machined. A lustrous, black wolframite crystal, 4 cm in length, is the star for species here in terms of overall quality, but it is really about making a beautiful combination overall. It sits on a matrix of lustrous, gray green, drusy chamosite, uncommon member of the chlorite group, and hosts a few clusters of lustrous calcite to 1 cm across, as well. On all of that, are perched glassy and gemmy, purple crystals of fluorite to 1.3 cm in length. Above all is a glassy and gemmy, colorless quartz crystal, measuring 5 cm in length. From the Ken Roberts China collection of miniatures and small cabinet pieces, all purchased on his many travels to China (he was going since the early 2000s and overlapped me there considerably as a friend and competitor both).
