Item Description
This is the last of the small 3-piece lot of wodginites we recently received. Wodginite is a rare multiple oxide with Manganese, Tin and Tantalum. It is typically found in zoned pegmatites in amphibolite, a metamorphic rock that contains hornblende, actinolite and plagioclase (WIKIPEDIA). Specimens are VERY RARE from near the famous Golconda Mine. The mostly matte lustre tapered, corroded metallic gray crystal is doubly terminated and appears to be a parallel-growth crystal. A few sharp brilliant metallic faces are scattered about and the bit of embedded feldspar and quartz adds contrast and pizzazz. Complete all-around, every turn presents a different perspective. A RARE and fine example from this famous well-known area. This is something you just never see for sale...and we think should be valued well north of $500-700, but can auction here as it came in a lot deal. The species has been SEM and X-ray confirmed.
