Item Description
An extremely rich and showy old-time solid specimen of witherite from one of the two Type Locality Nenthead area mines of the famous Alston Moor District. Densely intergrown waxy luster, translucent, creamy, pseudo-hexagonal dipyramids form an impresssive, large, elongated specimen. A trivial bit of interior bruising and the acceptable periphery wear are noted. Creamy-white fluorescence. This is a very fine and rich large old-time example of the species and historic locale from the Paterson Museum in New Jersey. It undoubtedly dates to the late 1800s or early 1900s. Specimens of this size, richness and quality are seldom on the market.
