Item Description
A classic example of the elusive Silver specimens from the Cashin Mine in southwestern Colorado. This locality dates back to the late 1890s, and produced nearly two million pounds of Copper during its lifetime, though specimens are fairly obscure on the market. Most Silver specimens I've seen are mostly crystalline, but this piece is a beautiful example featuring attractive "wires" of Silver on Quartz to create a beautiful overall piece. The Silver wires have a fine antique patina and good form. There are still some crystalline Silver areas on the piece, but the wires are a big deal for the locality. What's more is that the piece is not just a "lump" like several I've seen from the locality. If you look closely, there are some small iridescent bladed crystals of Covellite on the piece as well for a really nice touch. A great piece for a native element collector, a Colorado collector or somebody who likes minerals from the United States. Ex Robert E. Jenkins Collection (#9493).
