Item Description

A beautiful and showy miniature specimen from the lesser known San Genaro Mine in Peru featuring a pair of fairly thick, curled, striated, wires of native silver measuring up to 1.3 cm which are flaring out of drusy beige Siderite on host rock matrix. The silver wires have a gorgeous rich antique patina, which plays beautifully against the underlying Siderite. It should be noted that there is a bit of a pink hue on the Siderite, which could mean there is a enough manganese for it to have transitioned into Rhodochrosite, but it's impossible to know without analysis. Additionally bits of silver can be seen lower down on the specimen as well. One rarely sees such an eye-catching matrix wire silver specimen like this from the San Genaro Mine, and it would make an excellent addition to any native element suite or a collection of Peruvian minerals. From the collection of Gary Weaver of Prescott, Arizona (1944-2019). Gary was an electrical engineer who worked for many years for Hughes Aircraft in California. You can read Gary's obituary here https://www.dcourier.com/news/2019/apr/27/obituary-gary-richard-weaver/ Valued at $650 in the inventory.
