Item Description

The Wire Silver specimens from the Porco area in Bolivia are seldom seen on the market these days, but they can be incredibly beautiful, and sculptural. The best specimens are every bit as attractive and charming as those from old classic localities like Kongsberg, Norway or Freiberg, Germany or even contemporary material from Peru or China. This thumbnail is a wonderful example of these hard to find Silvers as it features a distinct "ram's horn" curled wire free of matrix . The overall form of the piece is really eye-catching, and this piece would make a great addition to any thumbnail suite, a native element collection or a collection of Bolivian minerals. The piece was mined in 2004. It's important to note that the mine at Porco is the oldest and most significant silver mine in Bolivia, so if you're lucky enough to obtain a specimen of this classic material, it's a real treat.
